HEAD GRADUATION OVERVIEW
HEAD’s Graduation is:
Formal
- A formal ceremony following the tradition of public or private school
commencement services. The ceremony typically lasts approximately
1 to 1 & ½ hours, depending on the number of graduates, and
will follow this general outline.
- Graduates enter to Pomp & Circumstance
- Welcome & Prayer
- Guest Speaker
- Power Point Presentation
- Presentation of Diplomas
- Closing Prayer
- Graduates Exit
- Reception
Uplifting
– The graduation commencement ceremony will reflect a Christian
student’s high calling in Christ and encourage graduates to attain a
quality in their adult life that gives glory to God.
Personalized
– When feasible, the ceremony is personalized with graduate photos and
parents’ comments to the graduates, generally in a Power Point or video
presentation. While the ceremony may contain other elements in
the form of live or pre-recorded presentations, these elements will be
appropriate for the occasion and are not intended to showcase
individual talents. An opportunity for more individualize
personalization is given through table displays at the reception.
A Collaboration of the Graduating Class
– The graduating class will participate together in choosing elements
of the ceremony such as a theme, a Bible verse, an appropriate song, a
speaker for the occasion, and the reception.
A Building of Friendships
– Graduates are encouraged to plan activities together as a senior
class in order to get to know those you will graduate with. This
is an opportunity to build on existing friendships as well as create
new friendships that will last a lifetime.
Self Supporting
– As with all HEAD sponsored activities, the graduation and reception
is self-supporting. The initial signup cost for a graduate is
only a deposit. Every attempt is made to keep costs at a minimum
to be affordable to all families, and graduates may hold fund raisers.
HEAD’s Reception is:
A Time to Show Off
– Each graduate will have a table to decorate and is encouraged to show
off their personal accomplishments, awards, and interests. A
popular item at tables is a scrap book for visitors to sign and leave
well wishes for the graduate.
